The Isofix system was developed by the child car seat manufacturer Britax Römer and the automobile manufacturer VW. It is an international standard with which you can attach an infant seat or a child car seat to your vehicle quickly, easily and safely without using a seatbelt. Since 2013, all new cars have been equipped with the Isofix anchor points. With Isofix, your child will enjoy even more protection and security every time they ride in your car.
The installation takes place via two anchor points that are built into the vehicle's back seat. They are located located between the backrest and the seat. Clicking in the Isofix hooks on the child car seat creates a rigid connection between the child car seat and the body of the vehicle.
Depending on the type of approval of the infant car seat or child car seat, a second fixation is done by using an upper or lower tether (top tether | low tether) or a support leg.
PLEASE NOTE:
In some child car seats, the Isofix hooks are already part of the seat. In others, it is necessary to purchase a separate Isofix base which is first installed in the car and to which the child car seat or infant car seat is then attached.
